Security Signs and Decals Take You Off the List
of Possible Targets
At the very minimum you should
install security signs and decals around your home or business. They are
by far the simplest form of security device. They are also the easiest
to install, yet dramatically increase the security of your property.
How? They keep would be thieves from targeting your property in the
first place. Most burglars look for the path of least resistance. If
they see or sense any bit of security on your property, they will move
onto the next property.
Security notice signs are a
powerful first line of defense because they act as a deterrent. Even if
you actually don’t have a working security system installed, well placed
and clearly visible security signs will make a potential burglar not
want to take the chance. Compared to full fledged security services,
literally for pennies on the dollar, and in merely seconds, you can
provide your property with 24 hour protection.
Security signs and decals can
be as simple as a classic “Beware of Dog” notice. Trust me, there is
hardly a burglar out there that is willing to risk bringing attention to
himself by making a dog bark wildly at him, or much less risk getting
bit by a dog. Even a generic “Warning: 24 Hour Video and Surveillance”
sign can do the trick. The most effective type of signs, however, are
the ones that announce a specific security service, such as Brinks and
ADT. You can by them direct, or through an authorized dealer. You can
also visit websites, such as

How you place and maintain
your security systems signs can greatly influence their effectiveness as
deterrents. Install your yard signs where passersby can see them clearly
from a far distance and at the widest angle possible. This place tends
to be right in front of or near the walkway to the front door and in
front of the backyard porch. This will keep potential threats as far
back as possible while at the same time keeping your signs from being
vandalized. Make sure that the line of sight to your signs is not
obstructed by other objects such as bushes, trees, plants, trash cans,
toys, tools, cars, etc. You’ll also need to install your security
notices in places that have good lighting. There is no use in having a
sign up if it is shrouded in darkness. The second layer of notices
should be decals on your windows, especially side windows. Additionally,
you should place decals on every door entrance, either directly on the
doors or on a window near them. If possible, place them under your roofs
ledges to minimize rain and debris damage. Avoid placing them near
sprinklers. Spray them with a weatherproofing solution, which you can
buy at your local hardware store.
Although security signs and
decals go a long way in keeping criminals at bay, there are some out
there that still won’t heed the warnings and attempt to breach your
property anyway. These people are either really foolish, really savvy,
or really not in the right state of mind. For this reason, it is highly
recommended that you take extra measures in protecting your home by
having full working security products, such as sirens, motion detectors,
cameras, security dialers, or even self defense weapons. It’s simply
another layer of security that you can have, just in case one slips
through the cracks. But at least with security warnings posted, it will
greatly reduce your need of ever having to use such devices, which
should be your ultimate goal.
