Install a Security Dialer for Low Cost,
Effective, 24/7 Security
A security dialer is a must
have if you want comprehensive security for your home or business. Often
times emergencies happen when no one is around. However, upon detection
of an emergency, such as a break-in, fire, or flood, a dialer will call
pre-programmed telephone numbers in order to notify someone of the
situation. The ability of a dialer to make direct, immediate
notification around the clock and at any given notice is what makes it a
bare essential security device.
Dialers are easy to install,
and are inexpensive. In general, there is no complex wiring required.
The device plugs right into a phone jack. Alternatively, they can be
connected to a cell phone. They are powered by batteries and AC adapter.
There are no monthly fees or yearly contracts because a dialer calls you
direct, instead of one of those monitoring companies. When you receive a
notification, you can verify that it is indeed an emergency and avoid
expensive false alarm fees.
A basic security dialer has
its own built in motion sensor. When movement is sensed in the area
being monitored, it will call a list of pre-programmed telephone numbers
one by one until someone picks up. Dialers have the ability to skip busy
signals and calls answered by answering machines and voicemail. More
advanced units can page, fax, or email, and will work in conjunction
with other devices, such as window sensors and other motion detectors.
Whoever picks up can either listen to what is going on or enter a two
way conversation to confirm with or warn whoever is in the monitored
area.
There are a number of extra
features that can come in handy and that you should consider getting. A
built in siren will blast high frequency sound and flash lights when
tripped, scaring off an intruder while it gives its notification calls.
An output relay can allow the user to activate external devices, such as
lights, sirens, and sprinkler systems, over the phone with the push of a
button. Getting a tamper resistant dialer will sound off an alarm when
the unit itself is being tampered with, or when the phone line is cut or
unplugged. Lastly, a panic feature will come in handy when there is a
burglary or break-in while you are at home by calling out with the push
of a panic button that is either on the unit or on a remote, just like a
silent alarm. The people on your emergency list can listen in and send help
on your behalf.
